With the continuous improvement of people's living standards, network cameras are becoming more and more common in our daily lives. Like most things, network cameras are also simple and complex. The working principle of the network camera is roughly as follows: the optical image generated by the light (scene) through the lens (LENS) is projected onto the surface of the image sensor, and then converted into an electrical signal, which is converted into a digital image signal after A/D (analog-to-digital conversion). , And then sent to the digital signal processing chip (DSP) for processing and video encoding compression, and then transmitted through the network cable, the back-end through the computer directly access the decoding to view the video or display through the decoding equipment.

When the camera system in the network camera converts the optical image of the subject into the corresponding electrical signal, it forms the signal source to be recorded. The video system converts the electrical signal sent by the signal source into a magnetic signal through an electromagnetic conversion system, and records it on the video tape. If you need the video playback system of the camera to replay the recorded signal, you can manipulate the relevant buttons to turn the magnetic signal on the video tape into an electrical signal, which is then amplified and sent to the TV screen for imaging.

The data collected by the network camera requires the CPU and cannot be processed directly. The main control chip integrates a Camera controller called FIMC (Fully Interactive Mobile Camera). The camera needs to transmit the image data to the controller first, and then hand it over to the CPU for processing after the controller processes (preview or encode directly after cropping). In fact, the clock (MCLK) needed by the camera to work is also provided by FIMC.

The controller is the heart of the network camera, and it is responsible for the management and control of the network camera. If it is hardware compression coding, the controller is an independent component; if it is software coding compression, the controller is a DSP running the coding compression software, that is, the two are combined into one.

There are two image coding compression technologies: one is hardware coding compression, which means that the coding compression algorithm is solidified on the chip; the other is DSP-based software coding compression, that is, the software runs on the DSP for image coding and compression. Similarly, sound compression can also use hardware encoding compression and software compression, and its encoding standards include formats such as MP3.

Through the above process, it can be understood that the basic structure of the camera is mainly composed of three main components: the lens (LENS), the image sensor (CMOS SENSOR) and the digital signal processor (DSP).
