Both OEM product development and PID replication are to create PIDs.
Compared with PID replication, after OEM product development, products are in the Developed state by default. Their PIDs are bound to the accounts under which the parent products or source products are created. This way, you can manage the PIDs or place orders without switching between workspaces. In the future, OEM product development will support scenarios such as optional upgrade. In the optional upgrade scenario, firmware upgrade messages are pushed to downstream products, and you can determine whether to upgrade the downstream products. In PID replication, products are in the Developing state, which means that you must fulfill processes such as development and testing. In addition, the replicated PIDs have no relation with the source PIDs.
PID replication intends to modify the original product template. OEM product development is to develop products of the same model, and key information, such as DPs and model firmware, are not modified.
